Dr. Rekha Mehra holds a Ph.D. in Kathak Dance. Ever since her childhood, she has been greatly inclined towards dance & music. As a young kathak dancer, she gave several dance performances in India and abroad, which were highly appreciated. Rekha is a Praveen (MA.) in Kathak, Prabhakar in Vocal, Prabharkar in Bharatnatyam and Gold Medalist in Dance from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad. She has learnt Kathak from Padamshri Uma Sharma Ji, Late Shri Pandit Tulsi Tej Prakash Ji, Guru Ram Kumar Ji and Guru Sohan Lal Ji. Rekha imbibed the best of both the Jaipur and Lucknow gharana's style and abhinaya. Having mastered the presentation of traditional terms, she widened and enriched the repertoire of Kathak by composing new dance numbers and full length dance dramas on a variety of themes inspired by a myriad of vibrant facets of India. She is a lecturer and examiner in Prayag Sangeet Samiti, and has been invited to several schools for teaching, lecture demonstrations, workshops and dance theatre judgment, through SPIC MACAY.
Rekha Mehra is the Founder and Director of URVASHI DANCE ART MUSIC AND CULTURAL SOCIETY both are empaneled with ICCR. Urvashi Dance Art Music and Cultural Society is a registered society for promotion of Indian Classical Dance & Music and has been operating for the past 30 years. Rekha has been teaching students for the past 30 years. She has specially trained more than 1000 students from the economically weaker sections absolutely free of cost and helping them to take dance as a full-time profession and pursuing their career in this field. She has till date trained more than 4000 students. She has been ever since doing workshops with the Muskaan NGO (Specially for Mental Handicap Children) absolutely pro bono. For the past 4 years Rekha has been giving free classes to Centre for Research and Investigation in ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis).
Dr. Mehra has been an active choreographer in the field of social issues. She has made a mark for herself choreographing on issues and making productions such as HIV | Aids (Nidan) | Global Warming | War and Peace | Women Empowerments | Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao | Ladli | Tu Kaisi Maa | Atal Shanti Ki Khoj Mein | Kargil Martyrs | Nari Shakti | Five Elements | Ballet on Road Safety | Ballet on Home Based Women Workers for UNIFEM | Shakti Swaroop | Dhani Chunairya | Ehasas - a Ballet on Deaf Dumb and Blind Girl | Ballet on Terrorism (Mission Ekta) | Atithi Devo Bhava (Common Wealth Programme) | Road Safety Ballet and Mentally handicapped children. She has brought to the forefront many social issues that usually go unnoticed.

Recently under G-20 banner we have made a special production “ Vande Mataram - Bharat Ek Sone ki Chidiya,”.
